Adding Evidence

Recording adjustment evidence is the core activity in Junipa. Evidence documents the adjustments your school provides to students with disability, supporting your NCCD data collection. The process differs slightly depending on your role.

Adding Evidence as a Teacher

Teachers can record evidence for students assigned to them through the timetable or student groups.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Dashboard.
  2. Locate the student you want to record evidence for. You can:
    • Find them in your current timetable period
    • Search for them using the search bar
    • Browse by student group
  3. Click on the student's name to open their profile.
  4. Click the Add Evidence button.
  5. Complete the evidence form:
    • Date -- The date the adjustment was provided (defaults to today).
    • Adjustment Type -- Select the type of adjustment from the dropdown.
    • Description -- Describe what adjustment was made and how it supported the student.
    • Location -- Where the adjustment took place (e.g., classroom, playground).
  6. Optionally, attach supporting files (see Attaching Files).
  7. Click Save.

The evidence entry will appear in the student's evidence log and will be included in NCCD reports.

Tips for Teachers

  • Record evidence as close to the time of the adjustment as possible -- this improves accuracy and recall.
  • Be specific in your descriptions. Instead of "helped student with reading", write "provided one-on-one reading support using modified text at the student's reading level".
  • You do not need to record every single interaction. Focus on evidence that demonstrates the pattern and nature of adjustments.

Adding Evidence as a Case Manager

Case Managers have the same evidence recording capabilities as Teachers, with some additional options.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Dashboard or go directly to Students.
  2. Find the student -- Case Managers can access all students assigned to them, not just those in the current timetable period.
  3. Click on the student's name to open their profile.
  4. Click the Add Evidence button.
  5. Complete the evidence form:
    • Date -- The date the adjustment was provided.
    • Adjustment Type -- Select the type of adjustment.
    • Description -- Provide a detailed description of the adjustment.
    • Location -- Where the adjustment occurred.
    • Additional Notes -- Case Managers can add supplementary notes that provide broader context (e.g., reference to IEP goals, specialist recommendations).
  6. Optionally, attach supporting files.
  7. Click Save.

Recording Significant Events

Case Managers can also record significant events for a student. Significant events are notable occurrences that may not be a specific adjustment but are relevant to the student's support profile (e.g., a specialist assessment, a parent meeting, or a behavioural incident).

  1. Open the student's profile.
  2. Navigate to the Significant Events section.
  3. Click Add Event.
  4. Enter the event details including date, type, and description.
  5. Click Save.

Significant events appear in the student's timeline alongside evidence entries.

Reviewing Evidence

To review existing evidence for a student:

  1. Open the student's profile.
  2. Scroll to the Evidence Log section.
  3. Evidence entries are listed chronologically, showing:
    • Date recorded
    • Type of adjustment
    • Description
    • Location
    • Who recorded it
  4. Click on any entry to view its full details and any attached files.
