Deleting evidence
Delete an evidence record only when the record itself should not remain active for the student.
If the adjustment happened but the entry has the wrong date, detail or attachment, edit the evidence instead. Deletion is appropriate when the record belongs to the wrong student, was saved twice, was created during testing, or is clearly accidental.

Who can delete evidence
Your school role controls which evidence you can delete.
- A staff member may be allowed to delete evidence they recorded themselves.
- An administrator with the broader evidence deletion permission may delete another person's record.
- Restoring deleted evidence is limited to authorised administrators.
Junipa checks the permission again when you confirm. Seeing a student or evidence item does not automatically give you permission to delete it.
Delete an evidence record
- Open the student's evidence or activity view.
- Find the evidence record that should not remain active.
- Open the actions menu beside that record.
- Choose Delete evidence.
- Check the student, evidence type, recorded date and recorded-by details in the confirmation.
- Choose the reason that best explains the deletion.
- If Junipa shows a linked case note option, decide whether that case note should also be removed from ordinary use.
- Confirm Delete.
A success message appears after Junipa has accepted the lifecycle change. The deleted row should disappear, while the student's other evidence remains in the table.
If you delete the final active evidence record, an empty evidence table is expected. If other evidence existed and the whole table appears empty, refresh the page and contact Junipa Support with the student, reporting year and approximate deletion time.
What happens after deletion
Deleted evidence is removed from business-as-usual views. It should no longer contribute to:
- The student's active evidence list.
- Teacher, student and cohort evidence totals.
- Weekly evidence counts.
- Evidence category, adjustment and disability breakdowns.
- Evidence Log and other ordinary school reports.
- New exports and organisation reporting feeds.
Junipa recalculates the affected totals after the lifecycle change. Open screens also refresh their evidence data so the deleted row disappears without hiding the records that remain.
What Junipa keeps for the audit trail
Deletion does not erase the history of the record. Junipa retains the original evidence details and adds an audit entry recording:
- Who deleted the evidence.
- When it was deleted.
- Why it was deleted.
- Whether the person acted as the record owner or as an administrator.
- Whether a linked case note was also deleted.
- The evidence lifecycle before and after the change.
The student activity history records that the deletion happened. The deleted content is no longer presented as active evidence in ordinary screens or reports.
Review or restore deleted evidence as an administrator
Authorised administrators can use Reports > Edited & deleted evidence to review lifecycle changes.
Use this view when you need to:
- Confirm which record was deleted.
- See who deleted it and the reason provided.
- Check the original evidence details.
- Restore a record that was removed in error.
Restoring returns the same evidence record to active use. It does not create a duplicate. Junipa records the restore reason and recalculates the affected tallies again.
Check the student's records after deletion
After deleting evidence:
- Confirm the other evidence rows are still visible.
- Check the student's activity history for the deletion entry.
- If the record affected a review, return to Evidence Log or Audit Report.
- Ask an administrator to check Edited & deleted evidence if the deletion needs to be reviewed or reversed.
